wc的全称是water closet
我们先来认识一个单词，closet /'klɒzɪt/。
n. 壁橱；密室；
adj. 秘密的
closet来源于拉丁语clausum,意思是“closed place”，也就是关闭的地方，后来引申为“密室”、国王的“议事室”。至今任有“to be closeted with someone”的说法，表示“与某人在密室中商谈”。而我们说的厕所wc的全称其实就是“water closet”
当然在英语中，我们还可以用restroom(公共场合), bathroom(家庭中), loo(英式俚语)等表示卫生间。
